Rehabs That Accept Cofinity Insurance
Cofinity Insurance is a division of Aetna, providing a preferred partner organization (PPO) model of insurance. PPO insurance models differ from health management organizations (HMOs) in that they offer more flexibility and allow members to seek specialized medical services outside of their primary care physicians. Together with its partner organization First Health, Cofinity represents over five million members and offers a wide array of treatment services for substance use disorder (SUD) through each phase of the process.
If you or someone you care about is currently struggling with SUD, and you’re covered by First Health or Cofinity Health Insurance, you may be able to keep the often-considerable cost of treatment down.
The Power of Aetna Insurance Coverage
Cofinity’s parent company Aetna is one of the largest providers of substance abuse and mental health insurance in the country. Plans commonly cover up to 80 percent or more of patients’ rehab services, and they offer plans that cover inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, long-term and short-term treatment. There are hundreds of addiction treatment centers around the country that accept Cofinity Insurance and other Aetna-based health care insurance plans.
To find the facility that works best for you or your loved one, start browsing our database of treatment centers. Once you select a facility, a representative from your prospective treatment center will conduct a full insurance verification to help you best understand your options for coverage. You may be required to pay a certain amount out of pocket for your care.
What Kinds of Alcohol and Drug Rehab Services Does Cofinity Cover?
Recent changes in healthcare legislation, such as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) have drastically improved the way insurance companies cover and regard substance abuse and mental health issues. As substance abuse and mental health are now regarded as what are called “Essential Health Benefits,” every insurance company participating in the ACA Marketplace must provide a certain level of coverage for these issues.
Some of the more primary drug and alcohol rehab services covered by Cofinity Health Insurance include:
- Rehab and Behavior Modification – Cofinity has its own network of behavioral health providers that offer differing levels of care. Coverage of these services is contingent upon the tier of patients’ coverage and their medical eligibility. Rehabs in network with Cofinity Health Insurance include inpatient and residential treatment centers, outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment facilities, partial hospitalization programs, long-term care and more. While each patient’s rehab experience is different according to their substance abuse history and care needs, rehab generally includes a combination of group dynamics, individualized counseling, supplemental holistic, occupational and research-based therapeutic modalities and more. The PPO model of insurance allows patients to more readily select a variety of treatment services so they have the best possible range of options in pursuit of their recovery.
- Detoxification and Withdrawal Management – Cofinity Insurance plans typically cover at least part of the medically supervised detox process. Patients may be responsible for little more than their copayment if the process is deemed medically necessary. The detox process offers patients the benefit of expert treatment and management of physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms, and qualified medical intervention in the event of an emergency. Detox programs typically last three to seven days, and can either occur independently or alongside rehab as part of a comprehensive treatment regimen.
- Support and Aftercare Services – In some cases, Cofinity may be able to cover post-treatment resources, such as transitional housing, ongoing psychiatric therapy and different types of prescribed supplemental modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and more. While they may seem peripheral or incidental to the recovery process, the reality is that these resources are critical in helping individuals in recovery build community, cultivate a support system and address the lifestyle issues that have emerged as a result of their substance abuse.
One of the reasons why relapse rates for drug and alcohol addiction are so high (between 40 and 60 percent, according to data from the National Institute on Drug Abuse) is because recovering individuals fail to gain access to the proper post-treatment resources they need to build stability and move past the toxic factors that led to and sustained their substance use.
Are Medications Covered by Cofinity?
Cofinity may cover all or part of medication-based interventions to deal with substance use and mental illness. Whether you or your loved one needs maintenance medications such as buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone (Vivitrol) and methadone or drugs to balance brain chemistry, mitigate mental illness and improve quality of life, Cofinity may be able to help offset costs.
