Understanding the drug problem requires many sources working together to compile reliable information. There are several agencies such as the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) that work tirelessly toward this goal. In 2010, about 4.9 million drug related problems were recorded of which about half this amount was for drug abuse. With the help of the Atlanta Drug Rehab programs, many of these cases managed to receive the treatment they needed to address their individual problems. Much of the data compiled also gives the various different agencies a better perspective on the types of drugs that are characteristically popular and among which age group. There seems to be a rising number of cases indulging in prescription drug abuse and this is alarming as the medical fraternity tries to exercise better control towards their drug dispensing and recommendations. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) report on Atlanta Drug Admissions documented about 1,250,400 individuals visiting treatment centers for prescription drug abuse in 2011.
With all the various effective treatments available today, all it takes is for the addict to make the commitment of taking the first step to seek help to beat the addiction. Help is out there but you need to start the journey.
