Medicaid in AL

Too many people do not seek treatment for substance addiction and abuse because they believe they cannot afford it. Alabama’s state Medicaid program covers various rehabilitative services. If you are covered by Medicaid or are eligible for Medicaid coverage, you could be covered for some, or all, of these services. These rehabilitative services are designed for people with the following diagnoses- substance abuse, mental illness, or concurrent substance abuse and mental illness. The rehabilitative services cover individual, group, and family counseling, crisis intervention services, case management services, and assessment and evaluation. To qualify as a Medicaid provider in Alabama, providers must be certified as a community mental health center and must provide access to inpatient services through referrals to community hospitals and provide access to substance abuse services including extensive outpatient services. All staff must be licensed under Alabama law in order to qualify as a Medicaid practitioner.
