Jefferson House is supported by Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, Michigan, and it is a long-term twelve-bed residential home for indigent men.
The six to nine-month-long rehab program at Jefferson House uses the 12-step approach to recovery. Most residents of Jefferson House come from another inpatient or residential substance abuse treatment program.
Capuchin Kitchen also hosts 12-step study groups four mornings each week which is open to adult men and women.
Jefferson House provides services for men who have no means to receive or pay for treatment, and admissions are based on bed-availability. Women, adolescents, and those who are insured or have financial means will be referred to appropriate programs.
