What types of services do you offer?

I offer Life Coaching, Peer Support, and Empowerment services. I assist individuals in finding and realizing their own answers.

What issues do you specify treatment for?

Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Addictions, other life challenges.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practice?

Life Coaching through a martial arts framework.

When should one seek treatment?

When one believes they are not living up to their potential.

Why should someone choose to come to your practice?

Recovery is invaluable when it is found through the individual’s discoveries, rather than instructions from professionals.

What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

Mental health and substance abuse both deter one from living one’s truth. Therefore, work with both is remarkably similar. In both scenarios, the first step is to help one believe in oneself. Once that connection between who one is and who one wants to be is made, the next steps present themselves of their own accord.

What types of services do you offer?

Art therapy and counseling to children, teens, adults and older adults.

What issues do you specify treatment for?

I work with individuals experiencing a variety of life circumstances. My specialties include: depression/anxiety, coping with pain and illness, life transitions, stress reduction, self-empowerment, LGBTQ issues, and memory loss/dementia.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practice?

Being an art therapist, I utilize art within therapy. I believe art can greatly enhance the counseling process. The opportunity to communicate concerns, challenging experiences and/or feelings through creative expression can lead to awareness and insight traditional talk therapy may not reveal. Art can also be used as a method to release uncomfortable feelings, stress, anger and sadness. No artistic ability is necessary for art therapy!

When should one seek treatment?

I suggest people consider therapy under the following circumstances:

• When struggling to manage depression, anxiety, bereavement, stress, addiction, chronic pain or illness, and/or relationship challenges

• Life stressors and/or emotional difficulties make it hard to function from day to day

• Feeling stuck in unhealthy life patterns

• Seeking a greater awareness of self and personal growth

• Dealing with unexpected changes and life transitions

• Desiring a positive life change

Why should someone choose to come to your practice?

Art therapy works because it enables clients to express their challenges and feelings differently than solely talking about them. I often hear from clients "how do I explain this" or "I can't find the words". When words can't express it, art can. Through engaging in the creative process people can gain insight on the issues they are struggling with and access resources within themselves to find healing. Art therapy can help create a positive life change.

What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

When someone is experiencing dis-ease from an illness, mental health concern or substance abuse issue it can create discomfort. When people are uncomfortable, they seek comfort. Comfort can be found in healthy ways but sometimes comfort is found in unhealthy coping strategies and behaviors such as substance abuse, self-harm behaviors and unhealthy relationships. Art therapy can be a tool to both explore challenges and emotional discomfort and as a therapy to cope with them.

What types of services do you offer? What issues do you specify treatment for?

I do not specifically treat additions, but I do focus on addiction related issues like some of the consequences of addictions/substance abuse like relationships that have suffered, depression and anxiety, self esteem, identifying triggers for use and building appropriate coping skills, for emotional, relational and life challenges.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practice?

Mostly Cognitive behavioral therapy but I do use element of Psycho-dynamic, systems and Solutions focused.

When should one seek treatment?

Psychotherapy can be a very helpful tool when someone seeks support overcoming a major life challenge and is struggling with a mental health disorder. When normal life is effected, it is usually wise to seek treatment.

What relationships exist between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

In many cases mental health and additions are related. People who struggle with a mental health issue, like depressions, often seek relief in a substance. An addiction might follow. Vise versa, people who struggle with addictions often develop other challenges in their life, like relational challenges, self esteem issues, but also depression anxiety etc.

What types of services do you offer? What issues do you specify treatment for?

Counseling and professional coaching for individuals, couples, and families. Generally, can support school aged clients to end of life. Also can provide online counseling via Skype. Grief and loss, divorce, depression, anxiety, stress, addiction, and self-esteem.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practices?

Strengths based approach, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, problem solving therapy, with relaxation techniques and use of other skills based on clients' needs.

When should one seek treatment?

When feeling overwhelmed or stressed to the point that it is affecting daily/weekly routines. If someone is feeling depressed, sad, or numb and feels they would benefit from outside support.  For someone with low self-esteem and self-doubt. I can support folks with life goals, prioritization, and organization to meet those goals whether they are health related, career related, or are personal goals.

What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

These seem to go hand in hand and often we are unable to figure out if the addiction may have caused the mental health issue or the mental health issue may have contributed to the addiction. Either way they should not be treated separately but from a holistic approach that looks at the underlying cause of what has caused pain or suffering for a person that may have lead to the mental health issue or addiction. Individual counseling with the option to bring family members or other support people who can assist with either. I can also make referrals for support groups for addictions of dual diagnosis, detox programs, inpatient or outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, and programs for those with mental illness addressing housing, social support, and other living skills that can be beneficial.
