ADDICTION TREATMENT CENTERS IN SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA

California features at the top of the list of drug affected state in United States of America. Santa Rosa being an important city of California, the Santa Rosa drug problem is also quite high. According to the data received from SAMSHA, in 2002, 3% of the pregnant women between the age of 15 to 44 used illicit drugs, 17% reported smoking and 3% reported being binge alcohol drinkers. The statistics is quite shocking not only because if the rate is this in pregnant women what it would be for others, but also because the babies that they were going to give birth has great risk to have physical defects.

With such an alarming statistics it is possible that you know someone who is in the grip of addiction and you need to free him from that. The person requires rehab center treatment which can take days and even months. It is important to find a rehab facility that is competent enough and provide high quality treatment to people. Our website has the list of Santa Rosa drug rehab centers in your area which you can check out during your need. In case you know someone who needs help, then don’t be late in browsing through the website. Your active thought may save someone’s life.

When should one seek treatment?

When you find yourself stuck in an emotional state or behavior pattern that is keeping you

from experiencing your true potential.

When past unresolved traumas have intruded into your mind and are affecting your peace and well-being.

When you and your partner have decided to make a commitment to transforming your relationship, but you don’t know how to do it.

Why should someone choose to come to your practice?

Many forms of therapy provide emotional support, empathy and insight, but do nothing to really change the way you think, feel, or live. I provide tools and techniques to empower you

to shift your consciousness, and release past emotional burdens and traumas that remain unresolved in your subconscious mind.

What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

I have never met a person with a substance abuse problem that did not have some underlying issues of low self-esteem, past emotional traumas or losses, depression, anxiety, mood problems, or anger problems. I believe substance abuse usually develops from an attempt to decrease pain or to seek relief from a reality that feels intolerable.

I provide psychotherapy, coaching, meditation instruction, and Energy Psychology techniques (EFT/Tapping) to resolve emotional issues, reduce cravings, manage addictive impulses and strengthen your connection to your Higher Power at the core of your being.

What types of services do you offer? What issues do you specify treatment for?

I work with people who have addictions, PTSD, depression, anger, anxiety, work and family challenges. I've found that stress and trauma are underlying foundations for most conditions people come to me with. I use both traditional and alternative strategies with particular attention to teaching skills and strategies that are user friendly and effective in helping people balance their emotions and navigate stress with more ease and peace.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practices?

I use traditional forms of therapy such as CBT and talk therapy and I also use a variety of other strategies such as hypnosis, guided imagery, and EFT, depending on what is needed in each situation and for each unique person.

When should one seek treatment?

When life challenges are getting in the way of enjoying life, experiencing pleasure, and sustaining nurturing relationships, or when you feel like you need support to get over a bump or stuck place in life-these are good times to seek treatment.

Why should someone choose to come to your practice?

My intention is to work creatively with you to help you regain mastery over the things that are challenging you. I offer a unique combination of deep listening, skillful intuition, and effective tools to draw from in finding what works best for you.

What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

I find that substance abuse usually grows out of deep wounding and pain, and actually stems from a healthy impulse to feel better. People often don’t know another way to help themselves feel better so they use the substances they use because, for a while, they worked. Sometimes people don’t know there are skills and strategies they can learn that will help them find more balance and inner peace, abilities to choose their responses to life events rather than being emotionally flooded and catapulted into autopilot reactions. Substance abuse, while it may have initially felt good, often results in an aggravation of the same kinds of pain one was trying to insulate against, so there are often increases in depression, anger, emotional flooding, destructiveness in relationships. I think sometimes people don’t know they can learn to engage with life very differently and in much more pleasurable ways. I have seen so many of my clients make deep and lasting changes in their lives in fairly short amounts of time that I have a strong belief that people can learn new ways of being. Of course your willingness and motivation are also key to the process so always bring them with you:)

What types of services do you offer? What issues do you specify treatment for?

We treat patients with opiate dependency (Vicodin, Oxycontin, methadone, opium, heroin...).

Most of our patients prefer to be discreet about their treatment and we treat one patient at a time. Many of them find traditional treatment unbearable or simply don't have the time to do traditional treatment.  We emphasize on having an optimal experience when getting detox.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practices?

We use the latest medical innovation and technology.  Everyone of patient gets detox (100%) because our treatment is only 3 days and 2 nights.  The actual detox process is supervised by an anesthesiologist and done under anesthesia.  Most programs are 2-3 weeks.  20-30% of traditional treatment patients don't finish their program because it is so long.  Our treatment target our patient's addiction at the opiate receptor level.   We do not substitute one opiate for another.  We believe in the philosophy of abstinence.

When should one seek treatment?

One should seek treatment when he/she is ready.  If their drug usage has over taken control of their lives and it interferes with their daily activities.  If they have to spend hours looking for drug each day.  Ideally, we want our patients to be actively involve.  The whole medical treatment team include their primary physician, psychologist, and our detox team.

What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

There is a really high correlation between drug use and mental health.  We do have on our staff psychologist and psychiatrist  who would intervene if need be to optimized patient recovery.

1. What therapy approach(es) do you utilize? What issues do you specify treatment for?

I am very eclectic but mostly follow a school of thought called Control/Mastery, which grew out of research done by a group of people in San Francisco about what makes therapy effective. The simple answer is that the more client-centered and at the same time authentic a therapist is, the better therapy works. I work with childhood trauma and the many manifestations it takes later on in life, including addictions.

2. How does one know if therapy is right for them?

I think people find themselves in therapy because they either want to address a specific issue, they suffer from an overall sense of unease or unhappiness (including depression and anxiety), or they are being asked by a loved one or person close to them to look at certain behaviors. Finding the right therapist means that overall you can sense that the treatment provider is informed and compassionate. Trust may take a long time depending on the severity of childhood trauma.

3. What can one expect to gain from therapy?

Therapy at its best should have a calming effect. Also, clients learn about boundaries, their self-worth, and how to relate to others better. However, all this depends on the client actively participating in the therapy process, that means, being honest, trying new behaviors in little ways, and bringing the capacity for introspection.

4. What is unique about you as a therapist?

I have over 25 years of experience in the addiction field. Also, my particular cross-cultural reference which includes growing up in a country torn up by war, by guilt, denial or self-incrimination has given me insight into deep psychological suffering and the many ways we humans try to avoid looking at it. Even though this journey can be difficult, I like to bring light to it via creativity and a sense of humor.

5. What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse?

Research at this point sees addiction as an interplay between genetic predisposition and environmental circumstances. These environmental circumstances can best be described as stress. Prolonged stress can result in numerous mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. We (people working in the field of addiction) believe now that there is no one-dimensional addiction (like drinking only alcohol), but that people usually suffer from multiple addictions and underlying mental health issues.

What types of services do you offer? What issues do you specify treatment for?

I offer a combination of Stanford Cue-Centered Treatment (a brief treatment for trauma and posttraumatic symptoms) with Transformational Sandplay (for resolution of pre-verbal trauma). The session is 60 minutes.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practices?

Stanford Cue-Centered Treatment for Trauma and Posttraumatic Symptoms (15-18 session intervention) Transformational (Jungian) Sandplay Relaxation and coping tools Systematic desensitization Guided imagery Play therapy for children

When should one seek treatment?

When the past is interfering in the present, it's time to seek treatment. Posttraumatic symptoms include any of the following: hypervigilance, feeling jumpy, easily startled, frequent nightmares, sleep disturbances, late night wakefulness, feeling dissociated, feeling as if your life will be cut short, emotionally numb, irritable, angry outbursts, having unpleasant thoughts of a stressful experience come into your thoughts unbidden, feeling as if a stressful experience is happening all over again.

If you are experiencing several of these symptoms, it is possible you may have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and you should be assessed.

Why should someone choose to come to your practice?

My practice is specific to treating trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). If you or a loved one have been through trauma, I am the right person for you.

I am a Stanford-trained Trauma Therapist. I worked five years for Stanford in a clinical research trial of Stanford Cue-Centered Treatment, which is the most cutting-edge trauma treatment available. Most people find that within as few as three sessions, they have a huge reduction in posttraumatic symptoms with this treatment. Often their PTSD can be completely cured by the end of treatment. Certainly the posttraumatic symptoms can be well managed.

What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

Trauma and substance abuse go hand in hand. Substance abuse generally starts as a teen as a response to early childhood trauma. In order for clients to be successful, they need to be firmly in recovery, at the time of treatment. Clients should feel well supported with a program, 12 step, sponsor, etc. before undertaking a serious look at the trauma that has brought them into substance abuse. Once the support is in place (via community resources), this treatment can literally be life-changing for clients, many of whom are suffering from PTSD perhaps without even realizing it.

1) What types of services do you offer? What issues do you specify treatment for?

I offer individual therapy for adults, teens and children as well as family therapy for family dynamic issues. I also work with couples and children of couples who are struggling with separation/divorce and co parenting. I have success working with people of all ages who struggled with depression, anxiety, grief, loss, trauma, communication issues, chronic illness/chronic pain, and relationship addiction. I specialize in working with women who are dealing with hormonal issues related to PMS and perimenopause.

2) What therapy modalities do you use in your practices?

I believe in a strong mind/body connection and use a variety of techniques depending on the person and issue being presented. These include:

-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

-Psychodynamic Therapy

-Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Techniques

-Guided Imagery and Visualization Techniques

-Eye Movement Desensitization Repressing (EMDR)

-Transpersonal Techniques

-Life Coaching Techniques

3) When should one seek treatment?

People seek out therapy when their life is stagnating or has reached a point of intolerable discomfort, promoting a desire for change and transformation. The success of treatment depends on many things, including motivation for change, level of comfort with the process and the relationship between client and therapist. Sometimes therapy can be uncomfortable as people face difficult challenges and realities of their situation. An open and trusting relationship between you and your therapist is crucial in order to be able to talk openly about your feelings. Therapy has been very successful for many individuals and families who have come to my office wanted to create lasting change and healing in their lives.

4) Why should someone choose to come to your practice?

I am a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of experience.. I have worked at a variety of settings including special education schools and day treatment programs, community health clinics, and several dialysis clinics in the North Bay as well as my private practice. I have extensive training in the treatment of trauma, including training inEMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which treats trauma, chronic pain, addictions and anxiety. As a therapist working within a holistic framework, I believe in healing for the mind, body and spirit. To facilitate this healing, I draw on both alternative and traditional therapeutic techniques. I also supervise and provide consultation for other therapists who are working towards or have just gotten their license.

5) What relationship exists between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

Research shows that addiction often occurs in individuals who have suffered trauma as a child. In addition to addressing low impulse control, treating underlying trauma is crucial in promoting lasting change in addictive behaviors. This is done through a variety of therapeutic techniques, listed above.

What types of services do you offer? What issues do you specify treatment for?

I offer individual, couple and family therapy.  I also teach classes on Relationship, Success and Health at intervals throughout the year.  I teach a full moon self peace meditation once a month, as a no charge offering to the community at large, in my office or in various community settings.

I mainly treat anxiety, depression, and trauma issues as they are related to the self and others.

I also treat ADHD, and ADD, dissociative, sleep and sexual and identity disorders.  I provide couples therapy for issues which do not involve extreme deception.

What therapy modalities do you use in your practice?

I use a humanistic model at base with cognitive and behavioral interweaves.  I use EMDR where appropriate, especially for issues involving anxiety and trauma, but also for performance anxiety issues.

When should one seek treatment?

When, despite one's own efforts to make life good,  one is not happy with one's own self and the way one is able to exist and live with others, one should seek treatment.

What relationships exist between mental health and substance abuse? What services do you provide for someone suffering with either and/or both?

Substance abuse has often been found to exist along with mental health issues.  I encourage people to seek group treatment for their addictions as the main treatment as I feel that the therapy I provide can be supportive but not a complete treatment for people with substance abuse issues.
