According to reports released by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 1,359 people in Arizona were admitted at rehab facilities for substance abuse in 2005. The drugs ranged from Cocaine, Meth, Heroin, Prescription drugs, Marijuana along with alcohol. The survey revealed that among 21 to 25 year olds, Marijuana addicts alone comprised of 30 %. To battle the rapidly growing count of substance abusers, SAMHSA has issued a sum of $379 million to be distributed every year as Access to Recovery (ATR) Grants. In 2007 Arizona was awarded $8.3 million, spread over three consecutive years. This system issues service voucher for rehabilitation of those addicted to substances like Meth, Alcohol and other drugs. The program has been designed to provide complete drug abuse recovery and through therapies, medication, spiritual counseling, life skill training, lifestyle alterations and other related activities.
